When is the race?
Sunday, August 12th, 2012 at Union Station in Kansas City, Missouri.

What is the race route?

Are strollers allowed at the race?
Strollers are permitted at the race.

Are rollerblades, skateboards, bikes, Heelies allowed at the race?
For the safety and insurance liability of all participants, the usage of inline skates, bikes, and Heelies are prohibited in the event. Thank you for your cooperation.

May I bring my pet to the race?
We ask that you leave your pets at home out of courtesy to others.

How much does it cost to register?
The fees are divided into race event categories. For Non-Competitive 5K Runner/Walker, 1 Mile Fun Walk, and Sleep in for the Cure® the fee is $25; $30 for late registration. Kids for the Cure® is $10 ; $15 for late registration. Non-Competitive In the Pink® is $75.

For Competitive events, 5K Timed Runner is $30; $35 Late Fee. Competitive In the Pink® is $80. 

What time is the race?
Race Day Registration begins at 6:00 a.m. The 5K Competitive Run starts at 7:30 a.m. and the Non-Competitive begins at 7:45 a.m.

Where is the race?
The Race is located at Union Station, 30 West Pershing Road in Kansas City, MO.

What is the distance of the race?
You may participate as a runner or a walker in the 5K Run/Walk (3.1 miles) or the 1-Mile Walk that will begin after the 5K Race/Walk.

Is the race certified?
The race is USATF Certified (5K race course). 

What happens if it rains on race day?
The Race for the Cure occurs rain or shine. However, we reserve the right to cancel the Race for the Cure in extreme circumstances. If the Race for the Cure is cancelled, no refunds will be issued. Instead, your entry fee, donations and pledges will be used as a donation to the Komen Kansas City Race for the Cure.

When does registration end?
The latest you can register is on Race Day by 7 a.m. NO EXCEPTIONS. 

What is IN THE PINK?
When you register for In the Pink®, every dollar goes towards finding a cure. For your $75 In the Pink® Registration, you receive one Race registration, a T-shirt, and an officially licensed Komen product.

Where does my money go?
Up to 75% of the proceeds from the Race stay here in the Kansas City area.  The money you raise & donate to support the Komen Race for the Cure is tax-deductible, the cancelled check or credit card serves as a receipt for the donor.

How can friends and family make an online donation?
You can make an online donation by clicking here. You may also bring donations to the registration tent on Race day or mail them to Susan G. Komen Greater Kansas City Race for the Cure, 1111 Main Street, Suite 450, Kansas City, Missouri 64105.

Do I have to fundraise?
You do not have to fundraise, although every dollar earned makes an impact. Currently, only 10% of participants take the extra step. If every Race participant raised an average of $160 over the registration fee ($160 is the cost of a clinical breast exam and analog screening mammogram), the Komen Greater Kansas City Affiliate would raise an additional $4.4 million.  Together, we can save lives! Can I volunteer for the race?
Yes! Volunteers play a vital role in the Susan G. Komen Greater Kansas City Race for the Cure®.  Their passion and commitment is what makes our Race successful. We need leaders, thinkers, movers and shakers, educators, communicators…all types of talented people.  Please email our Race Volunteer Coordinators to learn more about becoming a 2011 Race volunteer or click here to register online.

Is there anywhere to store my belongings if I am volunteering?
Please do not bring anything of value there is no secure place to put your belongings.

How do I form a team?
If you haven't registered for the Race yet, you can click here to register online and select "Start a Team" or "Join a Team." Search for the name of the team you want to join and select it. If you are already registered for the Race as an individual, you need to contact the Race Teams committee if you want to form or join a team.

Is it required to form a team?
No, you can register as either a Non-Competitive or Competitive runner or walker.

How many people make a team?
A team is any group of 10 people or more who want to participate in the Race as a group. There is no limit to the number of members you can have on your team.

When is the Survivor Photo?
The Survivor parade and photo will be at 9:30 a.m. after the Race.

What is Sleep In for the Cure?
Out of town on Race Day? Work nights? Or just want to “Sleep In” on a Sunday morning? Sleep In for the Cure® is the perfect way to show your support for the Race and the fight against breast cancer.
