KSHB-TV Wins $20,300 for Komen Kansas City

Kansas City, MO. – “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire” joined forces with news teams from across the country for a special edition of the game show called “Play It Forward,” airing November 28 – December 2.  All week, Millionaire featured news teams as contestants, as they try to win $1-million for a designated charity in their community.

KSHB-TV (NBC Action News) was invited to participate in this year’s “Play It Forward” segment.  In October, JiaoJiao Shen and Brett Anthony from NBC Action News Today traveled to New York City to tape their episode of the game show with Emmy Award-Winning Host Meredith Vieira. The duo chose to donate their winnings to Susan G. Komen for the Cure ® Greater Kansas City.

The Kansas City “Play It Forward” episode featuring JiaoJiao and Brett aired on Friday, December 2nd. Brett and JiaoJiao made it up to their tenth question (the last question in round #1), but decided to not take a guess and risk it all.  The final result - JiaoJiao and Brett won $20,300 to benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure Greater Kansas City. 

“We are so thankful to ‘Millionaire’ for making this possible and NBC Action News for choosing Komen Kansas City as the beneficiary,” says Carli Good, Development Director for Komen Kansas City. “The money Brett and JiaoJiao raised will be used to provide screening mammograms, diagnostic services, breast health education and survivor support services. They did a great job representing Kansas City and we are so proud of them.”
